Internship Program

We welcome interns in all areas of the company: industrial design, design research, engineering, communication design, marketing, accounting, and studio administration.

Naturally, you have:

Specific experience for the internship you’re applying for, insatiable enthusiasm for design, research, learning, sharing and building stuff. You value a broad picture of collaborating in a studio and take ownership of your work

A few things to note:

We love interns at all levels of their career: undergraduates, recent graduates and graduate students. Our internships are seasonal: winter, spring, summer and fall.

We start accepting applications about 6 months prior, so plan your application ahead of time.

Our team is multidisciplinary so you’ll be exposed to all types of interesting projects.

Internships are non-paid, but what you’ll gain most from your time with real-world exposure to a talent-driven design culture and a hardworking and friendly team.

When applying, don’t forget to put the discipline you’re applying to (ID, Interaction, Engineering, Brand, etc.) in your   introduction letter, your Curriculum Vitae, and your Portfolio in PDF form.

  • All phone calls are discouraged

Industrial Design Internship

If you are interested in interning at Alvaro Uribe Design, make sure you have.

 What we expect:

  • – At least a couple of years of design training under your belt. Students currently working towards an undergraduate degree or Masters in ID, or very recent graduates are welcome.
  • – A hands-on approach and an ability to test out concepts using different prototyping methods.
  • – An ability to communicate your thought process verbally and through 2D sketching.
  • – Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and Indesign.
  • – We work exclusively in Solid Works, and render in Keyshot. Knowledge of  Rhino and V-ray is welcomed, but not a must.
  • – Palpable excitement for product design, especially for products in the housewares and personal care category.

 What can you expect:

  • – Learn what it’s like to be part of a busy, working studio.
  • – A chance to touch actual projects with real clients and deadlines (not just conceptual ones).
  • – An opportunity to hone your skills and build new ones.
  • – We remember what it’s like at the start of your career and we’ll take the time to help you grow as a designer during your time at Alvaro Uribe Design

  • – Can I get credits for it? Yes, you will need to work it out through your school’s career services, and we are happy to help with any paper work needed.
  • – Would I be able to put work in my portfolio? Depends on the project. Most projects make it to market within 1-2 years from completion. Once they are out you will be able to include it in your printed or submittable portfolio with the watermark “While interning at Alvaro Uribe Design”. You will not be able to place any work on your website, online portfolio or social media networks.
  • – Do I have to sign any paper work? You are required to sign an NDA to protect our client’s confidentiality.
  • – How many days a week? Two to three days a week, so you can really get as much creative input into projects you are involved. We are fast-paced studio, every week there is a new project.
